It is one of several national parks in the scenic area of Wilingyuan. In 1982 it was recognized as the first national park in China with a forestry nature of 4,810 hectares, and in 1992 Unesco did the same as a world heritage site. It was the inspiration for the scenes of the movie Avatar , which is why the column-shaped mountain, formerly known as the Column of the South, is now called the Avatar’s Alleluia Mountain, as a sign of appreciation of the social message of it.

It is a national monument that groups a group of mineral formations of calcium carbonate, located on the shore of Lake General Carrera, in the Aysén region of General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo.
